Long Gone Blues

************************************

I’ve been gone from my home so long,

People there don’t even know my name.

I’ve been gone from my home so long,

People there don’t even know my name.

I didn’t mean to leave ‘em all go behind,

But I left ‘em, just the same.

I’ve been takin’ to the highways,

I’ve been ridin’ on the rails.

I’ve been takin’ to the highways,

I’ve been ridin’ on the rails.

I seen a little bit of freedom,

Lord knows, I know some prison cells.

Don’t really know

if I’ll find what I’m lookin’ for.

I said, I don’t really know

if I’ll find what I’m lookin’ for.

I know I had a little taste of it once,

got to have some more!

I really was feeling that I had been gone from my home for such a long time, traveling around the world. I was wondering if perhaps ‘out of site, out of mind’ was going to apply to me. Was I going to be, “What ever happened to ‘what’s his name’?” So I just kind of went with the thought and this song rolled out. I have been assured by a few of my friends that this is not the case. Although sometimes I’m still not so sure.
