Stupid old man

It’s that moment that you realize 

That your life has passed its peak

It’s all downhill from here now 

And you know you’re getting weak

You look back upon your life

And you hope you’ve done some good

But the truth is, nothing special

You didn’t give it what you could

Stupid old man

You thought you had a plan

But it didn’t seem 

to go the way you said

Now you moan and grumble

as you awkwardly fumble

Towards the moment that 

you finally wind up dead.

You had some fun

You had some laughs 

You did what you thought was right

But in the end, it’s added up 

Too many lonely nights

Good things come to those that wait

Is the common wisdom told

But you’ve been waiting for a lifetime 

And now you are just old

Stupid old man

You thought you had a plan

But it didn’t seem 

to go the way you said

Now you moan and grumble

as you awkwardly fumble

Towards the moment that 

you finally wind up dead.

You no longer have the desire 

to play a young man’s game 

It really doesn’t matter now

It’s all rigged, just the same 

You’ll be left to yell at children

“Hey you, get off my lawn!”

You’ll be well forgotten 

Long before you’re gone.
