Starfish Memories

of starfish dancing

Sweet remembrances

deciding

where we all reveal

the nature of your smile

all the while, then

returning to the 

ocean depths

Lights form familiar shapes

advancing slowly to the 

rhythm of the sand

open your, hand

they’ve all come 

to the party now

Writing words in strange time signatures is a weird exercise! The melody line for this popped into my head, I grabbed my iPhone and sang it into it. Then I had to try and figure out what the time signature was and learn the tune. I’m not sure I did the time signature correctly because it’s constantly shifting like sand. The drumbeat is just as strange but it all worked out perfectly! In some psychedelic songs, it starts normal and drifts into madness. I started in madness and didn’t make it back to normal. The words repeat several times, much like how it truly is in my head when I’m working on these things!
