Short, bald, and fat
How the hell did I get like that?
I was once a “strapping young lad”
Now a third of the energy
I once had
Yes, I played the game.
People used to know my name
But time keeps marching on
Those moments of glory
Have come and gone
Short, bald, and fat
How the hell did I get like that?
I was once a “strapping young lad”
Now a third of the energy
I once had
I’m sure we can all agree
No matter how I beg or plea
History won’t remember me
I guess that’s how it’s meant to be
Short, bald, and fat
(Solo)
Now I’m
Short, bald, and fat
(Solo)
Short, bald, and fat
(Solo)
Short, bald, and fat
Short, bald, and fat
How the hell did I get like that?
I was once a “strapping young lad”
Now a third of the energy
I once had
Relevant no more
Pushed right on out the door
I suppose I’ll soon be gone
Another vague marker
on eternity’s lawn
Short, bald, and fat
Now I’m
Short, bald, and fat
Weight a Minute
I gained some weight. Not as much as I once weighed but nonetheless, it got me thinking about people I had known who were once handsome and in great physical condition. Perhaps they were the high school football star but were now bald and fat. I channeled how I felt these one-time local high school heroes must feel and wrote this song. I guess it’s all part of getting old, which is what the album is about. Different perspectives on aging.
