Life is tough, 

big stones in my way,

It seems to get harder 

each and every day,

My luck could change

Well, you get a job, 

and you go to work.

everybody treats you 

like some kind of jerk.

You’re worth nothing to them, 

so that’s what you’re paid.

When your review comes, 

You don’t get a raise.

So, get used to it…

Still, you go to work, 

and you slave all day,

You come home to your wife 

with your minuscule pay,

She meets you at the front door, 

with martinis in her hands,

While out the back door 

slips some other man.

Get used to it…

No matter what you do, 

you can’t get it right

And even though you’re tired, 

you can’t sleep at night

Nobody ever hears you, 

No matter how loud you yell,

Haven’t you figured it out yet?

This is Hell!

So, get used to it…

You once were an angel, 

but you’ve fallen from grace

That’s why God 

has put you in this place

To squirm in torture 

for your every sin

And once you die … 

You get to come back again!

So, get used to it

Strangely, when I first wrote this song, I heard it in my head as a Death Metal song. But, being a blues duo, I really needed to adapt it to the blues. Fortunately, bad luck and trouble are hallmarks of many blues songs so transitioning it wasn’t hard to do at all!
